David Bowie é o líder de uma tabela muito especial. O «camaleão» está no primeiro lugar da tabela de álbuns mais gays de todos os tempos, na opinião de um júri convidado pela revista Out.
O álbum «The rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust and the spiders from Mars», de 1972, foi eleito por cerca de 100 especialistas no assunto, entre eles Cyndi Lauper e Boy George. «Num tempo em que os tabus sociais e sexuais estavam a ser ultrapassados, Bowie, com o personagem Ziggy Stardust, criou um mundo onde as possibilidades eram infinitas», afirmou Boy George.
